My daughter watches those cooking shows all the time and one day she told me that we have to buy some capers. I'd never heard of capers as an edible noun. It made me think of the old Batman tv series. But I dutifully typed it into Amazon's search field -- and lo and behold there they were. I thought they looked a little like tiny olives.So we've been cooking with them now for about 2 years. They are preserved like pickles or olives but their flavor is different. It's a strong flavor and you don't want a lot of them in your recipe.I like to put them in cold, mayo-based salads like chicken it tuna salad, potato or egg salad as well as using them to add some brightness to blander casserole dishes. They're good in green salads as well.I can't compare these to any other brands of capers because we liked these so much that we just have Amazon send us a package if them every 3-4 months.
